With 20 years of experience working with clients in the financial services industry, I bring experience, education, and a deeply personalized approach to financial planning.

I hold two respected professional financial designations: Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®). My extensive background allows me to help individuals, families, and business owners navigate important financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence.

At Ryder Financial Group LLC, I focus on comprehensive financial strategies including retirement planning, wealth accumulation, investment and retirement account strategies, asset protection, tax-efficient planning, insurance solutions, and legacy planning.

Over two decades of working with clients, I have developed a simple philosophy: financial planning should be built around the client—not the product. I take the time to understand where my clients are today, what they have worked hard to build, and where they want to be in the future.

Whether helping someone prepare for retirement, evaluate a 401(k) rollover, reposition existing assets, protect against financial risks, or create a strategy for future generations, I believe my clients deserve to understand both their options and the reasoning behind their financial plan.

My goal is to turn complicated financial concepts into understandable strategies and build lasting relationships based on education, transparency, trust, and personalized service.

Meet Nathan McKelvey

I’m a Tucson native, University of Arizona graduate, husband, father of three boys, and financial professional who genuinely enjoys helping people understand their finances.

After earning my degree in Finance, I spent 10 years in management before becoming a business owner and helping manage businesses for others. Today, I bring those experiences together with something else I’m passionate about: teaching.

I serve as a minister and teacher at my church, and teaching has shaped the way I approach financial planning. I believe people make better decisions when they understand why something matters—not just what they should do.

My goal is simple: help people understand their options, make confident decisions, and build a financial future they can be proud of.

For more than 45 years, I have been serving individuals, families, and businesses in the financial services industry. My journey began in the United States Air Force, where I volunteered as an income tax preparer, helping fellow airmen and their families navigate an increasingly complex tax code.

That early experience revealed to me that taxes are more than an annual obligation—they are a fundamental part of sound financial decision-making and long-term financial security.

Today, as an Enrolled Agent (EA), I am authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS in all 50 states. But I didn’t stop there. Recognizing the important connection between taxation, financial planning, and wealth management, I continued my education at the American College of Financial Services, where I earned the designation of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®).

Combining more than four decades of financial services experience with my expertise in taxation and comprehensive financial planning allows me to take a truly holistic approach. Rather than looking at taxes in isolation, I help clients understand how tax planning fits into their broader financial picture—including wealth accumulation, retirement, business planning, estate planning, and the preservation of wealth for future generations.

I grew up here in the Southwest, and my education in business began at the kitchen table with my dad. At 10 years old, I was helping organize receipts, bills, and the checkbook. That early experience sparked a lifelong interest in business, finances, and helping people find their way forward.

I graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1986 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, with dual majors in Management Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis. It took me nine years to graduate because I worked throughout college—and those years taught me as much about perseverance and real-world business as any classroom could.

Over the years, my family and I have built and operated a flight school, a niche software company, a 40-site RV park, and a bar and rodeo arena. We traveled across the country, met countless wonderful people, and eventually built a passive-solar rammed-earth home, where I served as the on-site contractor.

Life took me in another direction 25 years ago when I attended the Desert Institute of Healing to pursue a lifelong interest in helping people through medical massage therapy. Caring for clients, listening to their needs, and helping them feel better became an important part of who I am.

Today, I’m bringing those same values into financial planning. I understand the challenges and opportunities that come with owning a small business, managing personal finances, and planning for retirement. My goal is simple: to listen, educate, and help individuals, families, business owners, and retirees make informed decisions and build a plan for the future.

After a lifetime of learning, building, adapting, and caring for others, I’m excited to bring all of those experiences together in helping people plan for what comes next.
